Making India a Global Innovation Powerhouse

Government of India has declared “2010-2020” as the “Decade of Innovation”. which marks the beginning of the journey for India to reach a position of global leadership powered by a robust innovation driven economy. To realize the goal of making India an Innovation powerhouse in the coming decade, it is paramount to inculcate the culture of Innovation within all stakeholders through systematic interventions at different stages.

Indian Angel Network partners with CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) collaborating with National Innovation Council, Govt. of India which is organizing the “Decade of Innovation: India @ Year 1” on 16-17 November 2011 in Hotel The Lalit, New Delhi. Special rate for registration through Indian Angel Network @ Rs. 2500/- (instead of Rs. 6000/-)

The main objective of the event is to provide a national platform to all the major stakeholders of the innovation ecosystem in the country to share their experiences in innovation and showcase their recent innovations. The topics of discussion would be around developing robust innovation ecosystem in the country through policy reforms, global and institutional linkages and entrepreneurship development initiatives.

The event would attract participation from policy makers, industry, academia, institutions, entrepreneurs, VC’s, innovators, incubators and many others. Distinguished delegates from UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden etc are also expected to join the event.

Thomson Reuters will announce ‘Thomson Reuters Innovation award’ winners for 2011 during the event. Thomson Reuters established and introduced the Innovation Award in 2007. This award is designed to recognize innovation and entrepreneurship in India and is awarded to the organization that in the judgment of Thomson Reuters most represents the new spirit of innovation in India.

An exhibition of almost 50 innovators from across the country participating in the national fair of India Innovation Initiative (i3), jointly partnered by CII, DST & Agilent would also be organized on sidelines of the event. “i3” aims to create an innovation eco-system in the country by sensitizing, encouraging and promoting innovators and facilitating the commercialization of the innovations.
